The challenge in making the Hexshaft Arrow Shaft was to develop a wood arrowshaft better than any other arrow in the world. The answer to this required a blend of traditional archery knowledge and modern engineering experience. This resulted in the strongest and most uniform wooden shafts ever made.

Archers across the globe sought for a way to enhance the natural qualities of wood arrows, and improve the consistency of arrow strength and uniformity.

In making the Hexshaft, lodgepole pine is selected specifically for its strength and straight grain. The design of the hexshaft allows the entire surface to have edge-grain, giving superior strength and completely eliminating the feathering effect of flat-grain on regular arrow shafts.

The shaft itself is made from six individually machined triangles, made from the same piece of wood. High-tolerance engineering enables the laminating process to produce shaft strength which is higher than that achieved if it were a standard wood-dowel arrowshaft, and each shaft is individually examined to ensure quality control.

The difference Hexshaft Arrows make can also be seen in the arrow-making process. Nock-Grain orientation is not required, since the edge-grain is uniform throughout the shaft.

Due to the unique structure of the hexshaft, as arrows cure they do not shrink “out of round” as standard-grain arrows will. When applying cresting to a hexshaft, you will notice that the circumference is uniform as the arrow turns, therefore allowing finer and more consistent color lines.

Arrow Straightening is simplified when working with the hexshaft, since the grain gives consistent strength all around.
